Siam Legal International, a full-service law firm with more than 22 years of experience in Thailand, has highlighted the alternative payment options available to Thailand Privilege Visa applicants who are unable to pay by card. The guidance addresses a common question from approved applicants of the Thailand Privilege Visa, formerly known as the Thailand Elite Visa, and covers accepted payment methods, important payment details, and how a General Sales and Services Agent (GSSA) can help coordinate the process.

Thailand Privilege accepts several payment options beyond card payments, including international bank transfer, Wise, cash deposit, and payment by a third party on the applicant’s behalf. Payment by cryptocurrency is also possible through Siam Legal, as Thailand Privilege does not accept cryptocurrency directly.

For applicants who do choose to pay by credit or debit card, Siam Legal sends a secure payment link with any applicable processing fee included. Where an applicant has a card transaction limit, the payment can be split across up to three links, provided the full amount is paid before the invoice deadline.

Accuracy is essential whichever method is used. Applicants should include their application number and full name as the payment reference, and ensure the banking details follow the invoice exactly so the payment can be verified without delay.

In some cases, even a small discrepancy in the recipient’s account number or account name can cause a transfer to be rejected and returned. The applicant would then need to make the payment again, which could delay the overall process.

“Most payment delays come down to small details, such as a reference that is missing or an account name that does not match the invoice exactly,” said Rex Baay, Senior Immigration Consultant and Operations Manager at Siam Legal International. “Having a GSSA coordinate directly with Thailand Privilege means those issues can be identified and resolved before they hold up an application, and the finance team can be informed of the arrangement in advance.”

This is where a GSSA can help by coordinating directly with Thailand Privilege. For example, if an applicant is unable to find a SWIFT code that matches the details on the invoice exactly, Siam Legal can look into alternative options to ensure the transfer goes through successfully.

Siam Legal can also notify the Thailand Privilege finance team in advance, so the team is aware of the payment arrangement and can track the payment more easily. Because accepted methods and details can change, Siam Legal confirms the current accepted payment methods before applicants commit to any option.

The guidance comes from the latest episode of Ask Rex, a video series hosted by Rex Baay, who has sat down with thousands of clients and found that the same questions come up again and again. With Thailand visa rules changing all the time, the series draws on real experience, and Siam Legal’s Ask Rex episode features Darwin, a Thai visa expert at Siam Legal, who works through real-world case scenarios on the Thailand Privilege Visa.

As a GSSA for the Thailand Privilege Visa program, Siam Legal provides its support to applicants at no additional cost. Questions for future episodes of Ask Rex can be submitted in the video comments.
