Denver Regenerative Medicine will recognize World Arthritis Day on Oct. 12 by setting out for the public how its Denver office evaluates candidates for autologous joint procedures and how those procedures are performed, the clinic said.
World Arthritis Day is an international awareness observance held each Oct. 12 to draw attention to rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 53.2 million adults in the United States, or 21.2% of the adult population, reported a doctor-diagnosed form of arthritis in national survey data collected from 2019 through 2021. The clinic said the observance is a practical moment to describe its process in factual terms rather than in terms of outcomes.
"Arthritis touches a large share of adults, and the practice is focused on explaining procedure options, physician oversight and costs clearly before anyone makes a treatment decision," said Joel Cherdack, a doctor of chiropractic and the founder of Denver Regenerative Medicine. Cherdack founded the practice in 2015 and oversees the development of its treatment protocols.
The practice describes its joint procedures as autologous, meaning the cells involved are drawn from a patient's own bone marrow or adipose tissue rather than from a donor. According to the clinic, that material is prepared together with platelet-rich plasma and placed under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance. The clinic states that its protocols are designed to follow the federal framework for human cells and tissue products set out in Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1271.
The federal Food and Drug Administration publishes consumer guidance on regenerative medicine that encourages patients to ask whether a product they are offered is approved by the agency or is being studied under an investigational new drug application. The agency also advises patients to discuss the potential risks of any procedure with a licensed healthcare provider and to report adverse events through its MedWatch program.
Andrew Hong, M.D., an interventional pain management specialist, is a member of the clinic's medical team. Candidacy is reviewed during a consultation before any procedure is scheduled, and the clinic notes that most regenerative procedures are elective and are generally not covered by health insurance. Some consultations, imaging and laboratory work may qualify for coverage, according to the practice.
Beyond joint care, Denver Regenerative Medicine provides hormone and testosterone therapy, peptide therapy and medically supervised weight management. The practice publishes a separate page on its website for each of those service areas, along with a form prospective patients can use to request a consultation with the clinical team. Each page describes the service in the practice's own terms, and the clinic said its World Arthritis Day overview is intended to restate the joint procedure process in plain language.
